The President's Message
Volume 17, Issue 2
From Glynn Marsh

April - 2015
Spring must be in the air because the migratory ducks have arrived on our lake, just as the ice is starting to recede. What a welcome sight after a winter season that seemed never to end.

Work has continued at the History Center during the past three months but at a slower pace than when visitors are around to keep us hopping. Doris, Sue and new archivist Jennifer Woods keep adding cataloged items to our PastPerfect Searchable inventory program. A "step-by-step" instruction sheet is now available to make it easier for data entry so we hope more helpers will volunteer for this important task.

The new WW II Exhibit is completed and opens officially on April 4. It focuses on Randolph Township servicemen and women in the Navy, Army and Air Force, some of whom paid the ultimate sacrifice for their country. Sue Cummings, curator of the exhibit, used our new PastPerfect program to search for WW II items in the Society’s collection. She said it made her job much easier. Come and see how many of our local brave men and women of the “Greatest Generation” you still know personally or remember. The History Center is open for visitors every Saturday afternoon from 1-4p April 4 through November 28, 2015. Everyone is welcome.

It’s April so that means it’s time to re-register your KrogerPlus card and designate RTHS as your charity of choice if you want to continue to help out the Society in this manner. See the Sponsors page for instructions on how to sign up for both Kroger and Meijer Rewards. This is a painless way to give to the Society. All Kroger and Meijer stores in the Miami Valley of Ohio (Cincinnati and Dayton) participate.
